Herb Perennnials Self Seeding
Perennials come in 2 types

~ those that are hardy perennials that come back year after year

~ those that are tender perennials that may survive a mild winter but often need to be protected from below 0 temperatures.

~ tender perennial herbs often can over winter in a greenhouse or on a warm windosill if you have planted a herb container garden or can transplant some of your herbs into pots

~ Maya loves taking little cuttings of her berbs and putting them into little flower pos leaving the mother plant as well

~ that way we can keep a stock of the tender herb perennials in the greenhouse if it is a cold winter

~ all the herbs of the mint family are very invasive so best planted in a pot or container if you dont want them to cover large areas

~ We have a arge plant of lemonbalm because we like making lots of homemade lemonade in the summer and we also love peppermint for tea

some annual herbs like calendula and borage are self-seeding
~ when the herb plants are well-established leave the flowers on the herbs until seeds are formed
~ the herb plant will drop the seeds and new herbs will regrow in spring
~ with gardening for kids it helps to put a marker in the place where the plant will reappear so they are not disappointed or plant anything over it
